Xiaoxue Wang

Professor & Principal Investigator

Dr. Xiaoxue Wang is a Level 2 Research Fellow and doctoral supervisor at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She focuses on marine microbial metabolism and environmental adaptation mechanisms, particularly toxin-antitoxin systems, the interactions between phages and hosts and their ecological functions. She has published over 50 papers as corresponding or first author in prestigious journals including Nature Ecology & Evolution, Nature Chemical Biology, Nature Communications, PNAS, Nucleic Acids Research, and ISME J. Dr. Wang received her B.S. from Ocean University of China in 2000 and her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 2006. After postdoctoral research at Rutgers University and Texas A&M University (2007-2011), she joined the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology in late 2011. She received the Overseas High-level Talents Introduction Program (Young Talents) support in 2012, the National Science Foundation's Outstanding Young Scientist Award in 2016, and was selected as a Leading Talent in Science and Technology Innovation in 2018.
